I just received a beautiful card the other day from a photographer friend with Evening Grosbeaks on the cover. I think of them as the parrots Vermont never had. I had spotted some of them flying around the house the past week, but they were feeding up in the tops of the maple trees and refusing to come down low enough for a photo opportunity. I can't remember the last time I photographed one, that's how long it's been. Two years, maybe three... Finally this week they decided it was safe enough to visit our feeder/water station. I think the flock numbers around 100 or so, and about half of them came to feed. They have been back several times now. So happy out with my camera in the morning's frigid cold!
